Fishing Ski Clinic's
This may seem to be common sense but none the less here goes.... If you cannot swim you're wasting your time, Fishing from a ski is an extreme adventure sport.... we're not talking about 2 lengths of your pool either... you need to be a competent swimmer who can swim to backline and back or at least 200metres in the sea. You will fall off your ski and will have to swim with your paddle in somecases back to the beach.... the waves will keep on coming even if you may not want them too. We can help you fish off a ski but we cannot teach you to swim......
Getting started, want to catch more fish?? We'd like to help you make all the right choices. Why not test out a few ski’s first, we have the full range of ERIC’S CANOES at our disposal and would love to help you get started. We offer Clinic’s for beginners, intermediates and fishing day's at various locations… for the more advanced angler, check out our Destinations.
Greg Thompson and myself, Anton Hawkes are taking these classes, we are both avid Fishing Ski Anglers and we would love to share our knowledge and experiences with you.

So many guys ask about fitting fish finders, what's the best way? Can you mould it into the ski? and so on and so forth.... the truth is I didn't even own a fish finder. It's the thought of all those wires, batteries and extra stuff I couldn't be bothered with. So what I did was talk to my mate Mick Clarke, he gave me some great advise and some good ideas. I have now used this information and can now show you how to fit your own or how we can build one into your ski for you if you like.... I like the idea so much that I'm now going to fit a Fish finder in my own ski.

If you are at all interested in fishing you are in the right Place…..
We at Fishingski.com are mad about fishing but it’s “Fishing from a ski” that we are passionate about!!
We are based in Kwa-Zulu Natal on the East Coast of South Africa where warm waters and an abundance of game-fish makes fishing from a Ski not only very rewarding but incredibly exciting.
Launching from the beach through big surf as the sun shows itself on the horizon revealing crystal clear water boiling with bait fish is not the worst way to start the day…it gets even better as one of your reels starts to scream and as you turn to pick up your rod a Sail-fish or a Dorado clears the water (it doesn’t do your street credibility any harm if your mate happens to be close enough to see all the action)… sitting around the fire that evening with family and friends enjoying fresh fish (a cold beer) and a fishing tale or two… would you want to be anywhere else.
Check out our range of products or our Photo Gallery Section, even better put your own photo’s forward and enter our monthly competition or join us at one of our Fishingski.com Clinics.
Fancy a Fishing Ski Adventure, we have some great Destinations to choose from or why not think up your own trip and we’ll try and make it happen for you!!!
We work hand in hand with Eric’s Canoe Shoppe in trying to get you as hooked on fishing as we are…. At the moment our shopping section is still under construction as we try to get together the best products we can offer you. A one stop shop is planned where you can get fishing ski’s, paddles, life-jackets, fishing tackle, safety equipment and all the other accessories that go with fishing from a ski.
“Fishing is the prize, catching fish is the bonus”!!

Well, if you haven't heard I have left Eric's Canoes..... the 200km round trip from Pennington to Dbn everyday was in the end just to much to do everyday, so I'm back on the tools and plumbing again on the South Coast.
I should have a little more time to fish again.... so I'll be able to keep the Fishing from a ski column more up to date....
I'd like to thank Gary and Eric for the opportunity they afforded me at Eric's and although the days were long and itchy I really enjoyed and learnt a lot from the experience.
Cheers Anton |
