As more and more anglers take to the water there are a few things you should keep in mind when fishing... as with most sports there are a few rules to follow.... 'Fishing Ski Etiquette' if you like. Thanks to Greg for this ..... ETIQUETTE WHEN FISHING ON A SKI 1) Never zig zag or cross over behind the line of a ski when a paddler is trawling. 2) Never trail directly behind someone trawling, unless you are at least 150-200m behind. 3) When a paddler is trawling parallel to the coast, don’t do in’s and out’s in close proximity in front or behind the paddler.Especialy the early morning rapala kings fishing compos. You have the whole ocean to paddle in. 4) When trawling always keep a reasonable distance from other skis, to avoid tangles and cut offs when getting a strike. 5) If someone is fighting a fish, please keep your distance and keep an eye on the direction the fish is running.Especialy a saily which covers distance quickly. It can be rather embarrassing cutting someone’s prize fish off. 6) Never paddle close to someone’s baits as this can deter fish and affect their chances of getting a strike. 7) Always think and be patient before changing direction when you are trawling, remember it’s not only about you and your baits. This rule must apply especially when the fish are wild and there are a lot of other skis around. 8) These rules should apply to all other fishing vessels as well. We don’t need unnecessary friction on the water please, after all we are on the water to catch fish and enjoy the experience. TIGHT LINES GREG THOMPSON
