With 20 new Kingy ski's finished and on the water it's been an interesting month or two.... with all the rumours and feedback things at the factory certainly have not been boring, the best thing for me is that I've been fishing the Kingy!!!

No back Bung here....??
The production line is busy and with good ideas and feedback coming in all the time a few changes have been made to the original ski.... The hatch is huge over 2.5 metres long and it was felt that the entrance to the hatch should be bigger so Eric has altered the mould raising the entrance into the hatch from 19cm to 23cm's.
The hatch before being moulded into the ski...
The original entrance still didn't stop Manie Nortje getting this 26kg Couta into the Kingy's hatch... Caught off Scottburgh on a Mackerel.

The Kingy is 4.4m long about 20cm longer than the Tunny, it's 63cm wide and 27cm deep at it's deepest point. The hatch top is 22cm x 60cm which is fantastic for working area and getting those big fish inside. Each hatch lid is individually fitted for each ski and the lid has a +/- 4cm lip so it sits very tight and stops any water going into the ski when crashing through those big set waves.
The Self draining foot wells are an absolute pleasure and are a standard fixture on the Kingy I have found that when moving I have less than a cm of water in the foot wells and at most about 3cm of water when stationary. Using this Surf-ski technology makes sense as Surf ski's have a deeper seat area and need to get rid of the water ASAP ... keeping them dry and lighter on the water.
The Rudder is much bigger and has been designed to make the ski as manoeverable as possible .... when fishing you can turn quickly and be moving towards the action quicker than ever before. I have found it also keeps you out of trouble when coming down the face of the wave as you are now able to turn and keep from going sideways. When you loose it and do go side ways you are able to lean into the foamy and slide the Kingy once you slow down you can press the rudder and the ski will straighten up. You could slide the Tunny in the same way but the Rudder on the Kingy straightens the ski up much quicker.
The standard package for the Kingy includes, 3 Rod holders with rod clip saddles, a small waterproof hatch between you legs for cellphones etc.and a much bigger waterproof hatch behind your seat. Webbing on the back deck, a half length front deck pad, front and rear handles as well as two side handles. Self drainers in the footwells and a paddle strap on the front deck. The Kingy comes standard with adjustable foot pedals....
With Eric's open door policy customers are encouraged to be there when their skis are ready for final fixing and they can then add anything they may want or take stuff off the ski.... Fishfinders are a common add on and the cabling can be moulded into you ski if you so wish...
I'll get more photo's and keep you posted
